More New Jersey Motorcyclists than Ever Expected to Participate in Ride to Work Day

Soon, the spotlight again will be on motorcycles and scooters as efficient, fun ways of commuting.  According to cyclefish.com, June 17 has been designated Ride Your Motorcycle to Work Day.  This date marks the 22nd annual Ride to Work Day and has evolved into an international event.  A non-profit organization called Ride to Work coordinates the yearly event.

In the U.S., approximately 200,000 motorcycles and scooters are used for daily commutes, as reported by smartcycleshopper.com.  Motorcycles and scooters become even more visible on Ride to Work Day as thousands are added to that daily number.

Ride to Work Day is intended to illustrate the following:

  • Riding motorcycles to and from work helps improve traffic flow, thus reducing traffic congestion in large cities.
  • Motorcycles are far easier to park than other vehicles.
  • Commuting on motorcycles actually can save time as motorcyclists often reach their place of employment faster than drivers of automobiles.
  • Motorcycles are more fuel efficient than cars and trucks.
  • Motorcycles are not just for recreation; they can be a viable mode of transportation.
  • Ride to Work Day points out just how many motorcyclists there are today.  They come from all walks of life.
According to the 501 c4 non-profit organization sponsoring the day, motorcycle and scooter riders will receive improved support from their employers for using motorcycles and scooters to commute.  This year’s Ride to Work Day is anticipated to be one of the most participated in ever.

The New Jersey motorcycle accident attorneys at the firm of Lependorf & Silverstein understand that motorcycle accidents can be among the most dangerous on New Jersey highways.  Equipment failure may quickly result in an injury accident.  Inattentive drivers may not be looking out for motorcyclists and may cause broadside collisions.  If you have been injured in a New Jersey motorcycle accident caused by another’s negligence, you will need the help of a skilled attorney.  Call (609) 240-0040 today for a free consultation.
