Make Sure to “Pool Safely” for 4th of July

The 4th of July is a fun summer holiday, but, as experienced personal injury attorneys, we know that it can also be very dangerous. It is not only important to practice proper fireworks safety, but pool safety is also of the utmost importance.

Keep Your Kids Safe

Fourth of July means fireworks, but fireworks do not happen until it gets dark, and until then it is usually pool party and barbecue time. As fun as it is to splash around in the pool before seeing a fireworks show, it is very important to remember how to “Pool Safely,” as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) campaign puts it. Drowning accidents are a reality and can ruin your summer fun if you don’t follow these guidelines for a safe pool experience:
  • Keep the pool area clean;
  • Always supervise children around the pool area;
  • Make sure your pool does not include any recalled equipment;
  • If you are going to someone else’s house, make sure they’ve taken the necessary safety precautions;
  • If the party moves inside, make sure children cannot go outside on their own; and
  • Establish rules for your children regarding proper pool behavior.
